Veterinary Technician

Job summary: Responsible for the overall operation of the surgical preparation area and ensuring quality care for all patients.

Essential Duties:

Maintain medical inventory and supplies.
Actively promote spay and neuter and educate clients on responsible animal ownership.
Triage all patients as they are checked in for surgery. Report health concerns to vet.
Provide excellent patient care.
Assist veterinarians in surgery as needed.
Assist veterinarian in the calculation and administration of anesthesia to all surgical patients per anesthetic protocol.
Maintain drug logs and patient records. Knowledge of emergency drugs and protocol needed.
Administer animal vaccinations, tests, medications and treatment as directed.
Perform daily cleaning of kennels, cages, surgery room and other work spaces.
Stock prep room and operating room.
Wash and sterilize all surgical packs throughout the day.

Required skills and experience:

Certification as a Veterinary Technician or 4-5 years experience working as a technician in a veterinary clinic, animal shelter or similar business.
Computer savy, including familiarity with veterinary software products, or ability to learn quickly.
Must be experienced in care and handling of dogs and cats.
Ability to represent Rude Ranch in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Provide quality services to clients, volunteers, and staff, recognizing their individual contributions to the success of our organization.
Strong interpersonal skills. The ideal person for this job will be a team player, personable, upbeat, and energetic, takes initiative, uses tact and diplomacy.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with demonstrated ability to successfully juggle multiple tasks and demands.
Ability to professionally advocate and promote Rude Ranch’s mission and objectives.
Valid Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods of time while performing work requiring concentration and manual dexterity.
Lifting animals of all sizes, bending, stooping and walking on a daily basis.

This position requires the successful completion of a post employment offer background and motor vehicle record check.

Fundraising Development

Job Summary: To maximize generation of funds, entice new donors (and sponsorships), and maintain current donors to Rude Ranch Animal Rescue.

Responsibilities:

1. Generate increased income from existing sources
2. Identify and research potential funding opportunities
3. Develop proposals for projects that could attract new funding
4. Develop/maintain large donor program
5. Develop/maintain relationships with payroll donation program coordinators
6. Develop/maintain PR/media contact relationships to promote Rude Ranch and Rude Ranch events.
7. Present/create/maintain a consistent, entertaining, attention generating presence at public events. (Government/Expos/Charity)
8. Develop/maintain relationships with corporate sponsors to Rude Ranch endeavors and events
9. Attend/oversee/coordinate Rude Ranch presence at major events
10. Recruit/coordinate/train and coach Rude Ranch volunteers attending/helping during events.

Narrative:

The Fundraising Assistant/Manager position will start as a part time (12 - 15) hours/week position and will potentially move to a full time managerial position. As the candidate becomes better acquainted with Rude Ranch Animal Rescue, he/she will develop and maintain relationships with outside supporters.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Securing Rude Ranch participation in outside promotional events, including local Pet Expos, Craft/Holiday Fairs, Payroll Donation Programs, Golf Tournaments, and Informational presentations. In addition to organizing and attending such events, the successful candidate will develop relationships with the organizers of these types of events to ensure that Rude Ranch is invited to events. Likewise, the successful candidate is responsible for researching/creating/organizing and promoting existing and new Rude Ranch events: Photos with Santa, Basket Bingo, etc. Lastly, he/she will be responsible for advertising/promoting Rude Ranch participation/events with local media, social media, etc.

Sponsorships and Large Donors: The successful candidate will engage/develop relationships between Rude Ranch and corporations/potential large donors to secure donations and sponsorship for events, etc.



Rude Ranch Event Rep
Do you enjoy meeting and talking to new people about animals? Then we may have the perfect job for you!

Rude Ranch is seeking a high energy person to represent us at fundraising events this Fall. The job will require traveling to various government agencies to set up a booth and convince people to donate to our cause. Could be anywhere from 1 to 4 days / week depending on the number of events available. U.S. Citizenship is required. Email us at info@ruderanch.org for more info!
